Why stand in line waiting? With Mastercard Masterpass, U.S. Bank customers can skip the line and check out using their Android phone in participating stores.

U.S. Bank customers can now use Masterpass at more than six million contactless-enabled retailers worldwide, as well as for certain in-app and online purchases for hundreds of thousands of merchants. Splitting the bill, buying a train ticket or picking up groceries are now easier than ever.

“The Masterpass acceptance network will provide U.S. Bank users an easy, intuitive and low-friction shopping experience at leading merchants,” said Jess Turner, EVP Digital Payments, Mastercard. “It enables consumers to pay for the things they want with the security they demand.”

Payment and shipping data are stored securely in a single convenient location, where they are protected by today’s most cutting-edge technologies. Tokenization, which ensures information is protected, is just one layer of the security shield.

“By using Masterpass, our customers can know with confidence that they are paying with trusted technology, whether they are a small business buying equipment at an office supply store or a family of four dining at their favorite neighborhood restaurant,” said Clifford Cook, head of Product and Marketing for the U.S. Bank Retail Payments Services Division.

To make an in-store purchase using Masterpass, U.S. Bank customers can simply tap to pay at participating merchants, including BJ’s Wholesale Club, Toys R Us, Walgreens and Panera Bread.

In a merchant app or online, users have only to click the Masterpass button to authenticate and complete a transaction. This option is available at Kohl’s, Kmart, JetBlue, Fandango and the Cheesecake Factory, among others.

Masterpass users can enjoy other perks through exclusive offers and promotions — for instance, a $25 Mastercard gift card for customers who shop for Carnegie Hall Presents tickets, or $30 off for shoppers at Broadway.com.

For now, this technology is only available to Mastercard users with Android phones, but who knows? This innovation could open the door to a whole new shopping world.
