Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union (SLFCU), the largest credit union in the US state of New Mexico, is modernising its front-to-back office technology.

At the front-end, it is implementing Alkami Technology’s ORB digital banking platform. At the back office, the roll-out of Corelation’s Keystone core banking system is underway.

Sandia Laboratory FCU in major tech overhaul

The $2.4 billion credit union will implement Alkami’s ORB platform to provide online and mobile banking services to its 84,000 members.

Alkami says SLFCU will gain “a modern, consistent digital banking platform” with ORB. It will support retail, mobile, bill pay, personal finance management (PFM), person-to-person (P2P) payments and marketing.

It will also allow SLFCU to build its own apps and product extensions, Alkami says.

Once SLFCU completes the conversion to the Keystone core processing system in late 2018, ORB’s functionality will be extended to cover the credit union’s business customers.

Srinivasa Sastri Siravuri, the credit union’s CIO, highlights Alkami’s ability “to incorporate both retail and business accounts on a single platform”, “improved infrastructure and monitoring” and the ability to introduce future tech improvements “faster and more seamlessly”.
