Boston-based quantitative investment manager Acadian Asset Management has hired former Allianz Global Investors small-cap specialist Mark Roemer as a vice president in its London office.
Roemer will be responsible for developing the firm’s equity investment process, will serve as a member of the company’s portfolio management team, and help implement new equity, long/short and managed volatility strategies, the company said.
Roemer left AllianzGI in June after sixteen years at the firm. While there, he was responsible for several systematic equity strategies, with a particular focus on small caps, and helped manage the firm’s quantitative research process. Beforehand, Roemer was a U.S. equity product manager at Barclays Global Investors.
Tracing its heritage to 1977, Acadian Asset Management was founded by Gary Bergstrom in 1986 and now manages around $887 billion for institutional and individual investors as of June 30, 2017. The firm uses an array of quantitative investment techniques and analytical models for a wide array of approaches including emerging markets, global equity, small-cap, long/short, and market-neutral strategies.
